It is a brand new decade, after all, so why not familiarize yourself with some of the hottest holiday destinations of the new year, pick your favorite, make your plans, and book your flight?

Languedoc, in France, has to be high up there on the list. This is where to go in France if you do not want to deal with all the tourists, not to mention all the modernization that has taken place in the country because of all the tourism.

Languedoc is a charming, wonderfully hidden spot with quaint hotels, lots of find dining, and even some fantastic cruise opportunities.

I would live there if I could speak the language better — and, you know, if I could afford to. So, we are going to continue in the francais vein for a while, because Calvi, Corsica is another great location for a late summer, August vacation.

You can get all the best of the gorgeous French Riviera without having to spend the money, deal with the traffic, and shoulder through the ritzy crowds.

Calvi is a beautiful crescent beach right in Corsica, itself a stunning island. The beach is located beneath the island’s lovely hills — and better still, there is a free section as well as one for which you can pay.

From the beach, you can walk right to the historical old town as well as plenty of bars and restaurants.

Well, Guadeloupe is a great place to start. Specifically, the Festival of the Women Cooks which takes place there is an absolute must see. As the name suggests, the festival is a celebration of both women and food. It is actually held for two months, including August. During the early mornings of the festivals, the local women come together to cook for the five hour banquet and parade which occurs later in the day.

Plus, there are lots of other big draws, including the Jacques Cousteau Underwater Park.

If there is one place in the world that has got to be one of the most romantic to get married, it is going to be Le Château d’Esclimont, France. This beautiful estate is the place for a princess and to be honest, it is not all that far from Paris, the city of love. The Le Château d’Esclimont sits on 150 acres and it is perfect for your guests to fish, hike, ride horses or even just relax on the estate. Inside? Oh, it is absolutely incredible.

If you want your wedding to be a princess fairytale wedding, the Le Château d’Esclimont, France is going to be the place for you. Not only do you get to be inside something this beautiful, but you get to actually get married in France – and that alone is something that many people do not get to experience.

The Le Château d’Esclimont, France is number five on our list, but that does not mean that it is not one of the top ranking places!

The land itself is rife with vineyards, lavish flowers and landscape, and castles — or, more correctly, chateaux — dot the charming green hills. For hundreds and years, writers and poets and artists have viewed it as something of a mecca, venturing to the valley for the inspiration provided by the gentle, calming atmosphere surrounding the place.

You can thus see why it is an amazing holiday destination as well, for people all over the world. When you consider its rich history and its stunning sites, you will likely be unable to resist taking a trip there yourself.

For instance, you can visit Chartres, which is home to a world renowned church, the Cathedral of Chartres. Rodin himself considered the cathedral the “Acropolis of France.” To be sure, it is a beautiful representation of authentic medieval architecture.

The city of Orleans can also be found in the Loire Valley. Joan of Arc liberated the city from England in 1429. There is a special celebration to commemorate her every May.

For those with a medieval and Renaissance bent, Bourges is a must see destination itself. The streets are still paved in stone, the architecture is to die for, and there are still many remaining ancient structures.

So we are going to start this year out with a new writer and a new way of teaching you all about traveling! First, you need to educate yourself on some of the hottest vacation spots in the world and I got ‘em for you! In this ten-part blog piece, we are going to explore each and every vacation spot individually so you can know all the good and bad points about the specific spot!

First up on the list is … France! This is number ten on our list and it is a pretty obvious choice. Everyone in the world (besides people who already live there of course) wants to go to France at some point in their life. Honestly? I have always wanted to take a trip there and get kissed under the Eifel Tower. Now, that is just me.

Some of the great points about France are obviously going to be the sight-seeing destinations available in this beautiful country. There are some fantastic things to be seen in France and if you go, stay for at least a week so you can be sure to hit all of them.

One of the bad points: you will have to learn French. If you haven’t already, it would be a good idea to learn it before you head out there.

That’s it folks! More of the top ten in the next blog!

The Notre Dame is located in France, Paris. Along the route to the Notre Dame, you will also see the Louvre houses.

Paris, France is one of the most elegant cities in the world. The Notre Dame is one of the main attractions, in which the building is known as Our Lady. The Notre Dame is located on the island of Île de la Cité at the heart of Paris. The building is notable for its elegant proportions, such as the French Gothic Cathedrals of the Middle Age. A, Early Roman Temple at one time was built in this area. The building was developed in the late 11th-centuries by Bishop Maurice de Sully.

The Cathedral building’s, west front end is made of classical French Gothic Styles that composes of three rich carved portals, or doorways. The main portal is a depiction of the bible’s Last Judgment story. North and south of the building is transept fronts that date back to the second part of the 13th century. The windows are decorated with two rose, circular stained glass that was constructed using the bar tracery technique. Elaborate stone support systems complement the windows. The Notre Dame building is something that everyone should see once in his or her lifetime. To get your chance at seeing the Notre Dame, visit Paris (we recommend a wedding in paris too!)

A country blessed with 1500 miles of coastline. Boarder to the Mediterranean in the South, the Atlantic Ocean to the west and the English Channel to the north, it is needless to say that millions of tourists enjoy these beaches each year.

A country blessed by natural beauty. From the spellbinding, natural north, through the centre of the Loire valley and the Burgundy region, to the peaks of the Alps and de Pyrenees, and the shores of the Aquitaine region, everywhere there’s this astonishing nature to be discovered.

From the Champagne region, through Burgundy, Loire valley to Bordeaux and then back east through the Rhone valley to Languedoc-Roussillon there are the finest wines to be discovered.
Still … it’s Paris that is most representative for this country’s beauty . Paris with its monuments and museums supplies a rich cultural and touristic offer.

Places to visit: the “Notre-Dame”, the “Sacré Coeur”, the “Eiffel Tower”, the museum “Invalides”( where amongst others Napoleon is buried). The historical axis, looking west from the Louvre museum through the Tuileries Gardens over the Champs-Élysées to the “Arc des Triomphe”, makes a beautiful walk through the city centre.

La Villette is near the northeastern edges of Paris. This city is one of Paris, France chief cultural hubs. In the site is the Parc de la Villette, which is the Cité site of des Sciences et de l’Industrie. In other words, this is the city of Science and Industry. It is also the City of Music, or the Musée de Musique in French. In the area, you will enjoy viewing some of the finest Paris museums. There is also the National Higher Conservatory of Music here. In French, it is called the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique.

Around La Villette, Paris you will enjoy sightseeing. You will enjoy views of the National Museum of Modern Art, or Musée Nationale d’Art Moderne. This museum is at Pompidou Center, which is near the divine city of Les Halles. The museum is devoted to the 20th century art, and the contemporary art. In the museum, you will enjoy views of cubist, fauvist, collections of surrealist and more. Around the railway is the Musée d’Orsay. Venus de Milo has some nice Greek statues in this museum also. You will also see Victory of Samothrace treasures.
