Let’s Plan Our Holiday

Slovenia — the entirety of Slovenia, mind you — is the second in our top 3 list. Why all of Slovenia? Because it is scarcely bigger than New Jersey, so it really is not that hard to get around — and getting around is definitely worth it.

Ljubljana, the capital, is one place you have to visit. From there you can reach all borders within two hours. It is particularly recommended that you visit the old part of the town, which features three bridges crossing the Ljubljanca River, as well as the Town Hall, with its beautiful Baroque fountain. Plus, of course, there is the stunning Ljubljana Cathedral, pictured here.

In the east, there is Maribor, which is only ten miles from the border of Austria, so you can easily reach Vienna or Trieste as well.

The Julian Alps are another huge draw, as is the coast — especially Portoroz, which is the most popular coastal resort in Slovenia.
