It is the tail end of January.  It is freezing cold.  Up north, in the United States and Canada, there is snow everywhere.  So, a lot of folks are dreaming about a winter holiday in some warm, sultry location.  Believe it or not, you can save a lot by vacationing in the winter time — prices are lower, it is less expensive to travel, and you won’t have to deal with a lot of tourists.  You may not be able to jump the pond or anything, but if you live in North or South America, there are some great places in the United States you could visit — beginning with beautiful Savannah, Georgia.

This sultry southern city is the epitome of genteel hospitality, culture, and an unquestionable joi de vivre.  Furthermore, it is full of intriguing history, as you no doubt know if you have ever seen or read Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.

Stay in a gracious old bed and breakfast so you can enjoy Savannah’s infamous squares up close and personally.  Keep an eye out for the marvelous Lady Chablis, ponder the meaning of “destination unknown,” visit the grave of good old Jim Williams in nearby Macon.  Make sure that you drink plenty of mint juleps and wile away some of these cold winter months in the sensual sunshine seen in Savannah.
