The Maldives in the Indian Ocean is a territory consisting of 26 atolls and 1192 islets of which about 200 are inhabited. The main activities on the islands are fishery and tourism. A typical tourist resort here is a hotel on its own island. So, once in your Resort, you get a private beach surrounding the island, your private reef coral bordering your private natural swimming pool. Anyone on the island is either there to serve you, or to be served like you.

Perhaps Addu Atoll at the very southern part of the Maldives, even south of the equator, is the most special to visit. A flight from Malé (Capital of the Maldives) will give you an unforgettable view over the atolls. You will land on the island of Gan, a green island with Palm trees, flowers, lush green fields and lots of bananas. All water sports are organised, you can enjoy the private beaches (even on inhabited islets), but you also have the possibility to explore the island and get to meet some of the native people, a great experience. But of course you will most likely enter the islands through Malé International Airport. It shouldn’t surprise you that Malé Atoll has the greatest number of resorts, all within close range.

Built as a sand dune on a coral reef, they have – apart from the coral reefs and breathtaking views of underwater life – tropical vegetation with coconut palms bordering the white beaches. The Maldives are a true paradise on earth for everyone. Be sure to look for promotions and discount rates in the various resorts, this way a paradise holiday may be well in your budget.
