What not to miss in Argentina!

December 28th, 2007 · No Comments

Argentina, a country so large it stretches out from the subtropical region of Iguazu to the arctic land of Tierra del Fuego. Buenos Aires, Capital and largest city is located at the bank of the River Plata and is the most important port of the country. Buenos Aires is by far the most European influenced city in South-America. It is also the city of tango music; the San Telmo barrio is crowded with Tango bars. Other places to visit are the Plaza de Mayo, with the Casa Rosada and the Metropolitan Cathedral. If you walk along Avenida de Mayo you see the congress building, Casa de la Cultura, Palacio Barolo and the famous Café Tortino.

The north-east of the country is subtropical, hot and swampy. The most Northern Province, Missiones, is mountainous and densely forested; the Iguazu falls are the main headlight of the region. The north-west is Andean country with volcanic peaks and salt lakes at high altitude. The pampas, the central part of the country, is the fertile, green land where the Guacho guard the herds. In Patagonia and the Lake District we find a great variety of landscape, from river valley’s to ice-capped mountain peaks. The national Parks Los Glaciares and Nahuel Huapi near Bariloche, are spectacular places to visit. To the south we reach Tierra del Fuego, land of fire, a land of isles in the outmost south of the continent. A magic place to visit with great natural beauty.
