Aruba is a 32km (19.6 miles) long Caribbean Island north of Venezuela. It is still a member of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Oranjestad is the Capital, it was built around Fort Zoutman (built in 1796 by the Dutch) and has been the capital of the island ever since. Aruba is famous for its white sandy beaches which are located to the south and west of the island. The interior of the island is desert-like, the Atlantic northern shores, rugged and wild.

So, if you like the sea, Aruba is the place to be: swimming, surfing, snorkelling, diving, and banana boating, parasailing, underwater tours, it can all be arranged. But if you like some distraction from the sea, golf, a safari tour to the National Park, quad racing, mountain bike or horseback riding, a countless number of daytime activities can be arranged both for adults and children.
